Hatha Yoga Morning Immersion with Stephen Thomas - FULLY BOOKED

For experienced students and teachers, these four mornings are a chance to dive into a quiet, deep practice - to explore the subtle body, stillness and perhaps to discover some new, unknown edges. With Pranayama, Kriya and Asana, this immersion is also a chance to cleanse and harmonize the energy body and fill it with vitality.

Stephen Thomas: "Understanding comes through the regular simple repetition of technique and surrender over a long period of time. Patience and endurance are therefore key ingredients. But there are special times when it is important to create a shift through an intensive, focused period of work and refinement." 

In this Hatha Yoga Immersion, you will work towards a subtle refinement in the asana approach from an Energetic Perspective (as well as key alignments that liberates the pose for the individual needs), progressing in Traditional Pranayama including proper use of Bandha and Kumbahaka and Internal Kriyas. Meditation at the start of each day will create space and insight which supports the other work. 
There will be clear direction on modifying and balancing the practices to match your needs so that personal evolution can take place.

Each morning builds progressively and equal emphasis will be given on the dynamic and physical practices as well as the subtle and silent forms (Mudra, Mantra, Bandha, Pranayama are the essence of Hatha and will be explored in depth). The program will look at the practices in a holistic way including reviewing some philosophical perspectives to better understand our approach on and off the mat.

Stephen Thomas has been a dedicated student of yoga since 1999. Since leaving his home in Western Canada, he has practiced, taught and lived in Asia and Europe, studying traditional practices and experimenting with modern synthesis, which he incorporates into a clear but non-dogmatic yoga practice. His background includes studies in Hatha Yoga, Classical Yoga and Buddhism. He continues an in-depth study of traditional Pranayama and Philosophy through his central teacher, O.P. Tiwari based in Lonavla India. This foundational work in Pranayama and Meditation is combined with his deep love for the Asana practices that stems from his direct experience and experimentation with the classical Vinyasa systems and alignment and theraputic approach of the Iyengar system. His work continues to evolve towards what seems to work for students and what can create clarity and transformation.
Stephen’s appreciation for nature, philosophy, art and music is woven in a simple, direct way to the practices.
His ability to re-frame various viewpoints/practices and to simplify things without sacrificing depth and integrity has helped him develop a unique teaching approach. His works spans Meditation, Pranayama, Asana and the commitment to seeing the practice off the mat. He uses these methods as tools for health and wellbeing and to support the spiritual pursuit of living life courageously and compassionately from one’s own dharma.

Stephen Thomas will conduct this Hatha Yoga Immersion from Monday, July 11, to Thursday, July 14, 2022 at AIRYOGA, Fabrikstrasse 10, 8005 Zurich – each morning from 8:00 am to 11:30 am, with a short break in the middle.

Due to the intensity and content, there is an expectation of maturity in the practice of Pranayama, Meditation and Asana. It is not a suitable course for beginners. 

The course is progressive and intended to be taken as a whole.

Stephen teaches in English.

The course fee is Fr. 320.- for the entire immersion (four mornings).
