Shift happens - Ways of more Resilience: A Workshop with Linda Graham
Challenges and crises are part of the human condition: for ourselves, for people we care about, for our communities, and for our larger world. Dealing effectively with the challenges and crises of life is the core of our resilience and well-being.
Whether coping with small annoyances or full-blown disasters, this workshop leads you through a step-by-step process to strengthen the response flexibility, innate in your brain and your being, that you need to find calm, clarity and courage in the midst of any adversity.
You will learn to integrate practices from Western psychology and the Buddhist wisdom tradition to deepen the self-compassion and empathy that connect you to your inner resources. And through mindful awareness and reflection, learn to discern options and make the wise choices that lead to a truly authentic sense of self, to meaningful work and purpose in life, to thriving and flourishing.
The essential elements of this workshop:
- Tools of breath, touch, movement and visualization to reduce the impact of stress and trauma on your body and brain, and restore a steady inner peace and calm.
- Exercises to cultivate the positive emotions - kindness, compassion, gratitude, joy, awe, serenity - that antidote the innate negativity bias of the brain, shifting patterns of response from reactivity and contraction to more receptivity, flexibility, openness to the bigger picture, and optimism.
- Practices that deepen self-awareness and self-acceptance, the neural foundations of resilience.
- Mindfulness practices that change habitual responses to troubling events and negative self-talk, allowing you to discern options and make wise choices.
